Weekly Workouts

This past week my husband and I started an 8-week fitness challenge put on by Ashley Nordman who happens to be a pretty successful figure competitor.  So far we are having a blast!  We started on November 1st, and the challenge comes to an end on December 31st.  The challenge itself is all about lifting weights, getting in our necessary cardio and eating for a better, healthier life.  My husband doesn’t need to lose any weight, but he has mentioned he wants to gain some muscle.  I, on the other hand, want to lose about 20 pounds during the 8 weeks to get ready for our Honeymoon in January.  So far, I’ve lost 35 pounds since our trip to Disneyland in March of this year but I am thirsty to be in the best shape of my life.

We are on day 6 and so far going to the gym together has helped us tremendously in terms of being more in ‘sync’.  Previously, he would get up and go to work while I was still in bed, and would ultimately come home to a very exhausted me.  Now, he gets up, makes US breakfast which forces me to get up as well and we share our first meal together.  Breakfast is a great kick-starter, so once we are both off work we eat dinner together and then go to the gym together.  Not only that, but right after the gym we share a snack and then get ready for bed.  Working out has made us so tired we are now in bed by 9:30 every night, and that allows for the cycle to repeat the following day. I’ve never felt so energized!

The biggest change of all may in fact be my water intake.  I am drinking close to a gallon a day.  To get it all done, I have found infusing the water with fruit makes it a LOT easier.  My favorites so far include cucumber infused water and apple cinnamon water!  It tastes delicious when served cold, and it extremely easy to make.  A little fruit goes a long way!  Drinking more water has already cleared up my skin, revitalized my energy levels throughout the day (I experience little-to-no afternoon crash) and kept me hydrated for our workouts.  I will continue drinking a lot of water once this challenge is over with.

A personal favorite- Cucumber water

I am excited to see what the next few weeks are going to be like. We want to stick with the challenge, the working out, the eating, and focus on making ourselves a priority instead of throwing our health away.  I’m sure we can do it and I will be updating our progress as time goes on.  One day at a time, that’s the only way to make it.
